  Thank you Dave and many thanks to the writer of this article.

  It really gives me such satisfaction to see something written that reaches right to the core of the issue....something written by an informed non-JW who doesn't pull any punches and yet tells it like it is without sounding like he's biased against one religion.

  I am so glad this tragedy is not just being swept under the rug and not dealt with. These things are the honest facts that need to be said and read by all, JWs and non-JWs alike.

  Thank you for pursuing this story, Dave, and getting it out to the public.

  Thowing away WTS Publications

  in the past weeks, i have been throwing away my 32 year library of books.

  the feeling of freeing myself from the weight of the lies contained within the pages was my objective.

  i have always been afraid of letting them go just in case it was the "truth.

  Hi Judith:

  In all my years in the WTS, the only "mistakes" or "old light" that I heard about were the ones the WTS itself half-heartedly admitted to like the mistaken expectations about going to heaven in 1914.

  I once heard "miracle wheat" mentioned but that was quickly fluffed off as apostate lies so I didn't pursue it further. So all my life I thought there were only minor changes as the "light got brighter"

  If I had known then even a smidgeon of errors and wild beliefs that went on right from the start of this religion, that I have learned here on this and other sites, I would have started my exit a very long time ago.

  So, because many, here on this board alone, have access to these old publications, so much of the ridiculous teachings are brought to our attention and especially to the attention of the many lurkers we know are out there but are too intimidated yet to jump in here and ultimately jump out of the WTS's sinking ship. What a great way to expose the silliness of this so-called spirit directed org.

  sharon like her sister janet was also raised a jw.

  she left the religion three years ago just about the same time as robert and janet.

  her husband is not a jw but did attend the occasional meeting.

  My dear Sharon and family:

  May I add my deepest sympathy for the tragic loss of your sister Janet and her family.

  My most sincere hope is that you will find some comfort in the words that are being expressed here in these letters.

  There are so many “if onlys” and “what ifs” that add to the helplessness this senseless tragedy causes. But all of us here can share a true heartfelt sympathy, for the despair your brother-in-law must have felt, knowing, as we all do, the callous and cold treatment the JWs feel justified in heaping upon those who don’t conform.

  We hope you will come to our site, for the healing it offers those who have suffered at the hands of the WTS taskmasters. Asking questions, venting, crying and laughing have such a positive effect on those who don’t know where to turn to for comfort.

  I know how much being here has helped me in my own healing process and have seen many others here too benefit from either joining in or just reading. Here is where I find encouragement, that the constant chipping away at the “walls” of the WTS, that is being done now, will weaken the hold it has on so many people, and it will eventually be stopped from causing more hurt and pain.

  Please be assured that we genuinely care and send our love to you.

  Bryant Memorial Service Report

  it is hard for me to transcibe certain feelings into written words especially since i'm not what you would consider to be a real emotional person.

  i have also mastered the art of rarely showing any outward emotional expression.

  i will try and do my best to give you some of the feelings i experienced today through my eyes, so please bare with me.. i drove the hour to mcminnville which is a small town about forty miles south of portland.

  Dave: I thank you so much for this heart warming account you have given us. The pain this family has enduried at the hands of this pompous, self-righteous, sorry-excuse for Christ's followers, band of "little" men is just unspeakable.

  How unnecessary this all would have been if only this beautiful family had been treated as Jesus would have treated them.

  My heart just aches for the wasted lives of that young couple and those lovely children just starting out in life.

  And I can add my vote to your assessment of what JW funerals are like..."just an infomercial for JWs". At my own mother's funeral just 2 months ago, that's exactly what my closest non-JW relative said to me....as well as the remark on why wasn't anything mentioned about her surviving blood relatives...me, my brother, her non-JW brothers and sisters. It was like that part of her life was not of any value. All that was harped on was her wonderful service record for so many decades of faithful service..blah, blah, blah.

  I could go on about the shoddy JW practices handed out in the name of love????? but I won't do it in this thread about the memorial dedicated to this family.

  I'm sorry to go on with such vehemence about these hypocrits, but the pain they cause soooo many people is just too much to bear sometimes.

  I am glad you were able to be there for us and can share your experience.

  I wonder how any non-JW will feel once they are informed on the truth behind this statement:

  They believe in Armaggedon: The world will end, the wicked will die, and God will create a paradise on Earth for the righteous.

  
  The real "truth" is.... all non-JWs or those not attending meetings are classed among the "wicked" who will not survive Armageggedon and will not be among the "righteous"in paradise.

  or this statement:

  The shunned still can attend religious services, officials said, and conduct business with members. But Witnesses are instructed not to socialize with someone who is disfellowshipped

  Yes the shunned can attend religious services...but they sit alone with no one acknowledging their existence for usually a year. And how many here know of any JW that continued business with a disfellowshipped person...few and far between, I'd say.

  Just a few clarifications needed I'd say and I think I will pass them on to Wendy.

  a sister has been interviewed for nearly 45 min today and it will be on the 5 o'clock news on koin 6 tv.

  This is great news people!

  The more facts about the hurt and destruction to families that the WTS has caused, the better. The real truth presented in a factual way can be such a weapon. How can JWs, when presented with these facts being aired to the public, respond and have any credibility left as they try to "preach about the good news".

  The public and the majority of blinded JWs have been blinded and kept in the dark for toooooo long.

  Just keep chipping away at the 'mighty' borg, folks!
